on 2009/2/23 2:27:25 (146 reads)

Howdy folks. Yesterday, despite the rains we've had the second SVS Shooter of the Month match for 2009. You can download the results here and read the following excellent report by Mark "leChef" Jie.

Hello folks,

Here is the report of yesterdays SOTM February 2009.

The day started out beautiful with a lot of clouds followed by some intermittent showers and some heavy pours, but nonetheless we had completed our match schedule.

There were 4 challenging stages which varied from strong hand and weak hand only to long distance shooting and a stage with a lot of running.

Stage 1 was a standard exercise where the shooter had to shoot 3 full size targets while remaining seated which were out at about 13 meters. There was an attache case on the table in which you had to put your unloaded gun and all mags in. On the start signal you had to retrieve your gun out of the case, load and shoot T1-T3 strong hand only, make a mandatory reload and shoot T1-T3 weak hand only while remaining seated.

Stage 2 was a "speed" shoot with 2 swingers, opposing each other, a full size paper target between them, 2 mini poppers as activators and one plate at about 13 meters out. All other targets were at 20 meters out.
The start was gun loaded and holstered, hands relaxed at sides.

Stage 3 was a 32 round field stage which required a lot of running.
This stage had 2 lanes which were divided by a wall which had one opening in the middle through which you could change lanes.
There were 4 shooting positions from where you could see the targets.
11 from the 14 shooters shot at least 1 penalty target on this stage because they were fatigued after all that running and could not focus on the target covered with no shoots which were only 8 meters away.
There were also a lot of close 180 breakings on this stage.

Stage 4 was a simple "speed" shoot with 5 8inch plates at 23 meters out and 2 paper targets at 25 meters.
The start position was gun loaded and holstered and hands relaxed at sides.
The key to doing good on this stage was to take your time and get a good aim so you could execute this stage with one shot one kill and of coarse get good shots on the paper targets.

I hope you enjoyed this report and until March 22nd on our next SOTM match
