After all 6 stages (click here to download the stages) were completed this weekend at the SVS Midyear 2007 IPSC handgun internal match, it again became apparent that consistency is what wins matches. Stephen Tsang took the gold in Standard Division, without actually winning a single stage, with Winston Chin and Serge Tjin in silver and bronze medal positions, respectively.
In Production Division, Luo Te showed why he’s the most feared new member of Team SVS, taking the gold comfortably ahead of Steve Munusami and Vijay Kisoensingh, in only his second IPSC match. Other notable performers were Top lady Rochelle Tjin and upcoming junior member Mitchell Chen, with a 10th position in Standard.

Shooters of Team SVS performed a historic clean sweep of the top three overall positions in IPSC Standard Division of the Open Shoot hosted by shooting club Scherpschutter on March 18th 2007.
Stephen Tsang (center) shot an immaculate match to finish comfortably in the gold medal position, while team captain Serge Tjin Wong Joe (left) and Mark Jie Tjoe Foek (right) took home the silver and bronze for SVS respectively, in the overall standings. If that weren’t enough, top lady also went to Team SVS, with a solid performance by Rochelle Tjin Wong Joe. All in all, Team SVS managed to take 6 places out of the top 10, which illustrated the depth and overall strength of the team.

Some of our members have requested to post some reports and results of our achievements in past tournaments in the "BLASTS FROM THE PAST" news section. We'll be putting these online gradually. We'll start with the tournaments at the beginning of this year. And what better tournament to start off the archives, than with the first Open Scherpschutter IPSC tournament of 2007, that was held on March 18th 2007 at the ranges of the SSF at Cultuurtuin.
As you may remember, Team SVS had a clean sweep at that particular tournament this year, taking first, second and third place. That's a result we just had to post on our new website, of course
We're hard at work preparing for the upcoming internal IPSC tournament on July 1st and 2nd 2007. In the meantime, enjoy news from the past. We'll be posting these regularly.
Numerous claypigeons died last weekend at Marina Durga where the stage was set for the SVS Midyear Claypigeon Championship 2007. Ex-champion Roy Naipal proved to be in great shape and won decisively, with Steve Munusami and Vijay Lachmon trailing second and third respectively.
Pictures of the event are available in the SVS gallery. Don't forget to comment on your favorite photos.

Despite one of the heaviest rainfalls measured this weekend in Paramaribo, the SVS 40th anniversary Shooting Tournament was planned and executed to perfection. During the 5 days shooting, 8 stages were succesfully completed. The stages were set according to IPSC Standard Division regulations for large caliber handguns. There were a total of 39 shooters from Suriname, France, French Guyana and the Netherlands participating in what is likely the second largest practical shooting tournament ever held in Suriname.
All participants agreed that the stages were both physically and mentally challenging and were, most importantly, fun to shoot. Click here for a detailed list of the results of the SVS 40th anniversary shooting tournament.
