Ah.. It's so good to be back. Not that we ever left, mind you. Although we've had some server problems ever since we switched provider. It's been almost a year now and there's a baby involved.. It's a long story, you buy the beer and I'll explain to you someday. Somehow we could not edit or post on the website. But all seems okay, for now. We've found another hosting provider and let's just wait and see.

Anyway, ever since we stopped the team has grown much, both in numbers as well as in strength. And we are at the brink of going back to Curacao for the Colombus Cup 2010, yeahbaby. Also, we are going to do some cosmetic changes to the site. Last but not least, look forward to the reports of some of our shooting adventures that we weren't able to post, like the shoots in Aruba and Barranquilla to name a few. So stay tuned and let's meet sometime on a range somewhere and have a blast. Shoot safe.

It's nearly time. After months of preparation and training, 15 of our shooters will be heading off to the island of friendly sua's. It's the island of beautiful white beaches and scarcely clothed men and women. It's "die mooie eiland van Korsou met palmbomen in die oceaan naast de zee". It's the island of Curacao where our shooters will undoubtedly show their skill and brush up on their Papiamentu with the local "dushies".

Events : the first SVS MYA - day

No, it's not the "So Very Sexy, Makes You Angry" day. That would be november 7th.. But that's another story so for now bear with me while I go rambling on about the SVS "Move Your Ass" day. Yes folks, it was an historic moment yesterday March 4th 2009 as asses, that were long believed to be immovable, were moved. What happened was our pilot sporting event for SVS clubmembers and family at the NGVB sport center. We were expecting 7 to 8 people but at the end there were more than 20 asses moved that day.

Events : report SVS year opening match 2009
on 2009/1/7 13:12:30 (122 reads)

Last weekend we've had the first SVS IPSC practical shooting championships of 2009 on the ranges of the gunclub Suriname at Marina Durga. You may download a Dutch version of the report by clicking here. It's been exactly two weeks after our last tournament: the End of the year 2008 Championships.

Most interesting in this first match of the year was a stage by Rabien Chotkan to demonstrate how easy it could be to break the "180" rule during a course of fire. It was by no means a stage to generate DQs, merely to stress the importance of safe gun handling.

Events : SVS End of the Year Match 2008
on 2008/12/28 8:12:16 (168 reads)

Just in a blink of an eye we've had the last match of the year 2008. Looking back, it was a very prosperous year for gunclub Suriname. We've started the year slow without even shooting one SOTM match. We've had some problems with equipment and some minor nuisances brought about by some sad individuals. But in the end, we've overcome every obstacle that came in our way and we have been to 3 international matches, which we've participated in very succesfully and made a lot of friends in the region. It's been raining medals this year. Markieboy made history by winning the first ever President's medal for Suriname in Aruba. If you think about it, it was the lack of local competition and interest that made us look to competition in the region. Maybe it was meant to be.

Hi people, I do apologise for the delay. I know the Claybusters must've been eagerly waiting to read the report, but I've been too busy with work and the coming wedding lately.. yada yada yada. Anyway, as you may know, the Claybusters were at it again on December 8th 2008.

That's right! TEAM SVS is heading out to Cali Columbia to attend a level III IPSC Open tournament on November 15th 2008. After we got a taste of shooting abroad from our last journey to Aruba, we're all eager to go away again. We've all been prepped and ready for some time now to go out into the region to boldly shoot IPSC where no other Surinamese shooter has shot IPSC before. Six of our guys and gal will be along for the ride.

Here it is, boys and girls. The last part of the series. It took much longer than anticipated, because I had to be careful not to insult people too much this time
I really had a blast writing this report and I hope you enjoyed it. If you feel offended by any part of it, just let me know and we can talk about it over a cup of tea. Maybe even solve some of your other issues while we're at it...Really... No promises though.
